Hi guys,

Im a new member from the uk. recently moved up from .243 to a .284 and now starting to think about the next build.

Im leaning heavily towards the venerable 7mm rem mag, though i like the sound of the 7-300wm!!

Anyways im looking for ideas and inspiration for the build, most probably will be on a Rem 700 action though ill go custom if the funds allow! barrel will be either 26 or 28" by a reputable brand, i have a Krieger on the .284 and have been super impressed with the accuracy!

Being in the uk i can easily get a sound mod so it wont be fitted with a brake.

Care to show me your builds?!

Joe

I built this rifle in January of 2014, and took a few deer with it that season. After the season was over, I pulled it apart, and used the random parts to build 3 different rifles, so everything worked out in the end.

Custom 700 7mmRM:

Blueprinted 700 action
26" magnum sporter factory 7mmRM barrel - threads squared, chamber cleaned up & headspace reset, hand-lapped, custom crown
B&C Medalist stock (Devcon bedded)
DNZ 1-piece mount
Kahles Helia KX 3.5-10x50 4D reticle

I like that very much Mudrunner!

Im currently in 2 minds as to what route to take.
Either a build like yours with a lighter weight barrel and a more traditional style stock or:
A heavier weight barrel and a more tactical type stock.

Rifle will be used for game mainly but long range plinking as well as picking of long range vermin!

She performs like this with 168 and 180 vlds as well as 180 hybrids with RL33
168 VLD 3030

These are beautiful rifles guys! I wish it was so easy to acquire a new firearm in the uk!
Its a real pain in the ***, but worth it in the end.

C_bass: what length barrel are you using? Pushing the 180VLD's in the low 3000's is what im looking to achieve with the 7mm RM.

The near one is my 7 mag. I has a Bobby Hart accublock Apache laminated thumbhole stock. The original rifle belonged to my father-in-law and is around 40 years old. Shoots sub moa out past 1000 meters and other than the stock and the duracoat is all factory original. The stock tamed it down a lot but I suspect I will install a brake one day.
