There's no love for the 270 caliber, if any of you guys have any wildcat cartridges you would like to show off with a quick picture and description post them.

The 270 winchester was one of my fist deer rifles and I'm in love with this caliber, I now own a 270, 270 wsm, and (2) 6.8spcii, and I'm looking into building a wildcat in this caliber.

Open thoughts are welcome as well but let's not turn this into a .277 vs .284 thread

Thanks guys.

Id guess as to why there aren't as many is the fact that 7MM can carry a bit more weight, and greater bullet selection...
I'm certain in the next shot show or so that Nosler will be releasing a 27 Nosler and a 30 Nosler... The 404 Jeffery is a **** solid platform to start with.

I wouldn't mind an uber 27 bore to play with, but that would be trying to re-invent the wheel for me.... I am VERY invested in 6.5mm and 7mm cartridges.gun)

270 Sherman.

Close to 270WSM performance from the 270win parent.

If you really want to make a simple wildcat that would perform well, a 277-300 Win mag or a 277-300 WSM would be the ticket.

Joel, you brained a white tail doe at over 500 yards running with your 277-300wsm (270 wsm).... Remember, you shot on two instead of three and my deer veered while your deer died... Even the mighty 7rum can't out run a timing error...

As to the Sherman, I like it but the regular 270 is really hard to beat for me. I use my 270 for a doe rifle and a paper puncher, so a bit of extra velocity is not important to me.

The 27 nosler does sound fun, has anyone heard any updates on bergers 170 or 175 277 bullets?
I heard they were supposed tobe coming out... , keep them coming guys.

Thanks guys.

Gotta lotta love for the 270's, killed better than a dozen bulls over 800 yards with a 270 WSM and 165 Matrix, dad just added a sweet 270 Weatherby that's tearing it up with 170 gr Matrix. My next one will be a 270 Sherman Short, looking like it'll run very close to the 270 WSM with the 165 only with a shorter over all length so it'll run through a mag better than the WSM.

.270 Weatherby is what I have in the safe...... cool round with awesome performance!
Mine is only a 1in 10 twist but 140gr bullets at 3500fps are something else. A 27nosler with a 1in9 twist would be fun. I'm shooting a 28 now with the 195 Bergers and pushing them at 3100fps with a 3.605"COAL.
