Would you mind showing me what the muzzle diameter looks like on your barrel? Preferable brake removed. I'm debating if I want that contour or slightly thinner. Also, how long is your barrel?
I'm not home currently will be this weekend early next week. But it's a northland shooter supply criterion prefit 26" barrel.

LPR 7 saum Lone Peak Ti 26" Proof with NX8 4-32. Sits just a little over 8lbs

Not a mag but my 7x57AI Rem 700 trued up on McMillan Edge with Swaro Z3 3-10 sits at 7.25lbs. Shoots 160 ABs at 2835 with 21" tube and no pressure.

I'd love to see some lightweight-medium weight Magnum builds you guys have done. Preferably hunting rifles. I've wanted a 7mm Rem Mag for years. I can't tell you why I want that specific cartridge, but my gut won't let me not have it. I hunt eastern Pa where the deer and bear don't need much more punch than my .270 can dish. I'm debating putting a 7mm Mag together from Savage parts this winter to satisfy my craving, but I want it to be practical for my hunting; not overbearing to carry (sub 10lbs scoped), probably heavy sporter weight barrel in the 24-26" category, braked. I want to be able to put it over my shoulder and walk around these tall hills looking for new vantage points. And should a shot at 500-700 present itself, cleanly and confidently take it. My .270win is capable of doing that now, but the 7mm will also be my primary bear rifle, and I want the stopping power that caliber provides.
I have a 338 Win. Mag. with scope and bi-pod just a tick under 10 lbs. Throwing 225 Barnes out of a 20" tube at 2700 f.p.s. good to about 600 yards for Elk and should work for Moose as well.
I have a Savage in 7 mm Mag at just under 9 lbs. with a 24" pencil barrel throwing 160 grain AccuBond at 2900 f.p.s. good to about 600 yards for Elk and may work on Moose, tho I have never hunted a moose.
