Short barrel elk .308 cal elk rifle

I want to build short barrel .308 cal elk hunting rifle but not sure of performance capability. Considerations:
1. 215-230 Berger
2. 2800ish fps
3. 6-8 lbs build minus optic
4. 20"-22" barrel
5. Use 6"-7" can
6. DBM

Is this possible using 300 PRC or should I go with something more compact ie 300 wsm etc?

Thoughts/recommendations.

Thx
We are building 300prcs with very short barrels. The teams are using 22" barrels with a can. I'm building one for myself. All the powder is burning.

I'll throw this out, Manners EH 4 built as light as possible, Proof Sendero lite 22 inches in 1-9 twist or 1-10 if you hunt at 6000+ ft elevation. Defiance Deviant med length in sheep Hunter configuration.
Chambered in Sherman Wildcats 300 MAX, this would be a slick set up suppressed for all round hunting while staying light with HP to get that 215 hitting hard but not over compensating!
Staying light suppressed you gotta get some weight back, short forend stock and steel action should put it in balance nicely!!

I used a 22" 300WSM suppressed for a few years, 208 amax at 2815 fps it was a hammer. Lover shorter spressed rifles
