Rookie question.

What is the difference between target and hunting turrets on a scope? Are they different between manufacturers?

Thanks

I define a hunting turret as being a capped and low profile turret. Most these days are finger adjustable with audible clicks. I've seen some friction turrets out there still.

Tactical turrets I defined as normally being uncapped, with larger (read taller and wider) finger adjustable knobs. I still consider the capped taller turrets like found on the Nighforce Benchrest models to be "tactical" as well as turrets like found on the Burris MTAC series as well. Leupold still does models like this as well I believe.

Just my definitions.

Thanks. But it looks like the Zeiss with hunting turrets has an uncapped finger adjustment. Maybe it is different between manulfactures?
