Scope-Range finder suggestions-270win- 500 yard shot

"I don't point guns at things I don't intend to shoot."

Well, yes, that's what we have been taught and it is a good safety rule. Too many hunters use their rifle scope instead of binoculars when scanning for game. BUT, if you use binoculars and/or a spotting scope to find your target then ranging it with a LRF riflescope is pointing your gun at something you intend to shoot.

To me hunting without binoculars is like hunting nearly blind. My Bushnell 1 Mile ARC binoculars have a very good LRF that gives a basic ballistic solution. Wind, altitude and weather are the variables I must account for in figuring my final firing solution.
