Looking for a scope to throw on a Model 7 243. Just a pickup gun for the farms to take care of coyotes.
Currently has an older Burris 3-9x40. Just wanting something with a little more mag range and bigger objective for at night.
Watcha got....

Yeah, I wouldn't go big budget for a truck gun but stick with Burris, Nikon, Simmons, or even the low end Leupold's if they have what you are looking for in magnification.

Banging around in a truck is rough on scopes...

A fixed power scope works best for a truck gun I have found. No messing with anything just point and shoot. I would assume you want something quick handling for shots to 300 yards? Think 18 inch barrel, 6-7 lbs, 308 or 6.5 creedmoor. Used Savage Mld 10 with 18 inch, used Kahles fixed ten power with ranging reticle. around 1100-1250 done and very accurate. This is what I believe a truck gun is. She's not winning the beauty contest but drops almost every coyote I run across. Photo of the reticle I use. Lower lines are for measuring. 36 inches per line. Coyote is 18 inches. So a coyote in the in the 600 line would be 300 yards out.
