Scalpers are out of control

Yes, it is. Everyone pays into the program, the government pays it out to people. You don't get your own money back, you get somone else's. The money you paid into it is long gone, payed out to somone else long before you're eligible to receive it back. You don't get back the exact amount you pay in, you get a guaranteed amount for life that increases to keep up with cost of living/inflation.

That's exactly how socialism works. Everyone pays into a government fund, and the government disburses it as it sees fit. You dont get what you pay in back out, you get a portion of what everyone pays in.
If you don't believe me, do some research. I'm happy to be proven wrong, so long as there is proof.

Social Security is a socialist program that basically everyone in America is okay with having. There's nothing wrong with that.

How social security (and many of the socialist governments) are (mis)managed is a whole different topic
Wrong. It's my money. Not someone else's. I pay social security so when I draw it out, it's not socialism. Not paying any in, but still drawing social security is socialism

As a matter of fact, drawing without paying is welfare.

excessivspeed: I like that name! However, you are not entirely correct. Your statement: "That's exactly how socialism works." is completely wrong. Socialism does not work, never has worked, and will not work here in the great United States Of America.

I felt I needed to point that out because some who read that statement may have thought that there is a working version of socialism, and there is not.

No, I'm pretty sure I know what Biden will do. I'm guessing he will hustle the poor and build the bueracracy. I mean isn't that what democrats do. Create entitlement programs that can be shutdown by the next administration so they can get your vote?

I wonder how they ever got tricked into the checks. I mean can you imagine if we got rid of the entire list of entitlement programs and just split the budget among the people who don't pay any taxes at the 24% rate.....my goodness they would be filthy rich I would bet! They would pay a higher tax the next year!

Then imagine if they got rid of the atf, nsa and homeland security. Wow! Even my taxes could go down or we could fund healthcare like the first world countries do!

dream over...
DEFUND THE POLICE. GET RID OF ALL THE ALPHABET LAW ABUSING AGENCIES.

Well, let's keep local law enforcement. As for the alphabet agencies of the federal government, they seem to take their citizenry given power and run amuck with it. The upper echelon seems to have been infiltrated by the far left, and yet they claim to have the interest of the whole country at heart. I believe there may be a miscommunication between the top brass, the enforcement arm of these agencies, and the people they serve.

Back when these federal agencies were created, I do not remember a single politician stating that he/she was enacting a terrifying entity that would take away the rights of constitutional law-abiding citizens of the country they purportedly were authorized to save from true criminals. But I could be wrong.

Wow.....I can't believe how many people on here have the views they have. It's kinda nice to get to really know some of you!
I don't think anyone has mentioned this yet, so I'll try. I see many people wishing for more restrictions, saying people are buying up powder and resale on Gunbroker. From what I understand, it would be tough to legally ship powder...so there already is a law in place to prevent this. Seems to me you should be demanding your government enforce laws that we have, not looking to add more. This is a classic view of a segment of our population, we already have many, many laws to prevent gun violence that cover any situation you can think of but often they are not enforced. I mean if you are willing to break what I would consider the highest law of murder, what other law would stop you?

I'm confused....by some of the people here....
So if I have powder that I can LEGALLY ship, I should sell it cheap so someone else can resale it higher? Be grouchy at the people actually paying that much, and agencies that are not enforcing laws if it's actually the case of people buying/selling without shipping license causing it. Otherwise it's pretty simple supply and demand. Look on Ebay, people are paying $100-$250 for HORNADY reloading dies.......Its the PEOPLE BUYING causing the problem. I just put together a die set on Midway by buying individual dies for far cheaper than what they are selling for on Ebay. We are a society of instant gratification and people will pay whatever it takes to get it NOW.

if you had something priceless , would you give it away to get rid of something you hated

if we the people had something priceless , would you give ours away to get rid of something you hated

Powder, primers, bullets, take your pick. Scalping is just a by-product. This is the beginning of a long downward spiral that Biden & the dems are going go have a ball with. They have figured out they don't have to fight the "gun" battle. If you don't have ammo/components, they've largely achieved their goals.

How refreshing to know that I am not the only one here that has figured out Biden and his ilk's agenda. Actually, there are many on this forum that understand this, though they seem a little reluctant to discuss this problem. I believe this is the greatest disruption we as shooters are ever going to face. I think this is the perfect place to discuss what is happening now and what is going to happen in the future. I would like to see what others on this forum are thinking. If enough people here want to talk about what is happening, maybe I will try to open a dialog about the shortages that are not going to go away--and why.

Or maybe it's the people paying these prices that make them so bold. Been watching powder on Gunbroker to see what the scalpers are selling for. Just saw 3-1lb bottles of H1000 sell for $515 plus shipping!
cant believe what this guy is asking for an 8lber, plus $50 shipping, PLUS 3.5% PayPal/credit card fee.

The hoarders are out of control again. Ok rant now over lol.View attachment 220001View attachment 220002View attachment 220003View attachment 220006
People that would pay that kind of money for something like powder, must have a "real need" or... they're just not smart enough to be stupid.

Shortages in ammunition, NRA declaring bankruptcy , all in all an effort to make our firearms mere unsustainable "Wall Hangers" .

I'd bet that the majority of people on this and any other gun forum have owned firearm's for years. It's nobodies fault but your own if you never planned ahead and bought plenty of ammo or reloading supplies to make it through times like these. I'm in no way a hoarder, but other than a few choices of bullet's, I shouldn't need to buy anything for years.

You've had the last 4 years to stock up on everything. If you chose not to, then whose to blame. Then you get online and bitch about guy's selling stuff for ridicules prices. Evidently, they were smarter than you because they have it, and you don't.

Nobody is forcing you to buy it!

I literally could not have stated that better. A couple of summers ago I tried selling bullets and powders. I was asking slightly lower prices than new at the stores. Popular stuff too and all factory sealed. No one would touch any it. They'd offer me 1/2 of my asking price and I told everyone of them "no thank you, I'll hang on to it until the next Democrat gets elected. Then I'll stick it to you..." They had their chances.
