Hey guys I am going to be getting one of these in the next couple days and was trying to figure out what base I should get for it? I was thinking of something with 20 moa in it. What do you guys recommend.

FishBox,
Should be a shooter. Would love to have one. I did a quick search of MidwayUSA and available 20MOA Picatinny's for Savage SA round back are:

Nightforce - $116.00
TPS - $86.33
EGW - $45.00
Weaver - $35.00
EGW Heavy Duty - $70.00 (not sure what's going on with this, both are aluminum)
Badg Ord - $150.00
Seekins - $95.00
Valdada IOR - $95.00
Leupold Mk - $59.00 (on sale right now - says it's 8-40 adaptable - again, not sure)

That's a pretty good selection with a lot of the hard hitters. I do not have enough experience with picatinny mounting systems to recommend the cheaper over the more expensive, or vice versa, but my mind says a rail is a rail. If I were not on a budget I would purchase NF or BadgOrd. though.

I recently (last week) bought a LA Weaver 20MOA and medium tactical (6 screw) rings for my Savage 112BVSS/VLP in 6.5-284 w/NF NXS 5.5-22x56. I swapped the factory fluted barrel (26") out for a 28" Lothar Walther non-fluted and the old mount/rings (Leupold STD long range/Burris Signature STD) let the scope's objective rub.
I originally bought High rings as the package read something like, "for Objective lens up to 56mm". Didn't like the space (.466") between scope and barrel so I took them back and got the med. Now it's about .125", much better IMO (easier on my neck anyway).
Sorry for the rambling, hopefully some of it will be a use. HAGO :) JohnnyK.

On my Savages I use Farrell, EGW, Weaver , they are all 20 MOA bases. They come in to play for mid - long range.

The EGW base will work great for you, I have a few of them.

You're going to love the LRPV! I've had a few of them in different calibers and you can't build a better gun for any where near that price. They've all been exceptional shooters.

Andrew

Couple more questions, does the rail come with the screw's to mount it to the gun or should I have bought those also. If I need to purchase some what is the pitch for the threads? Also would you guys recommend bedding the rail or just use the screws? If bedding is recommended what is the best material?

Also I plan on seeing how she shoots but have the guys that own lrpv rifles found that you needed to do any work to them like bed the action or anything like that? Sorry for all the questions this is the first gun I have sorta pieced together by myself.

The base will come with the necessary screws, so you should be good.

You should be good to go once you throw a scope on there. Load up some Lapua brass with CCI 450 primers, varget and a 105gr bullet and you're in business! I did bed my 22-250 but it didn't make a difference. That gun shot sub 1/4" groups no matter what I did to it.
