I took the gun back to the store today. The lady had mounted the rings in the wrong place with the screws for each ring switched and the adjustable ring needed to be adjusted.
 
Glad you figured it out. A bore sight, and a torque wrench pays for itself quick when you consider the cost of ammunition, hassle and heartache caused by a counter jockey with little or no clue as to what hes doing.
