Savage experts I need your assistance-

A friend of mine has a .300 Win Mag barrel off a a Savage 112 that I can pick up very reasonably. We have decided that it is a small shank barrel. What action will this work with? I looked for a 112 on Northland Shooters Supply but couldn't find anything. This barrel proved to be very accurate in a previous build so I am thinking about putting it back to work.

Basically any savage long action except for the target magnum or any that was originally an ultra mag. Might need to verify that but I believe the ultra mags were built on large shanks.

Find the magnum L/A bolt head and magazine and then any '06 based action will work

The early RUM rifles were small shank. The RUM actions are extremely rare regardless of shank size.

Like previously stated above - its relatively easy to swap bolt heads on savages so the standard bolt face actions can prove to be useful as well.
