I have a question on a Savage 110 rifle. I have a barrell for the .338 laupa, and I have a Savage 110 rifle in 30-06. If I was to have a smith open up the bolt face for the .338 round would I be able to switch the barrels out? Will the action of the 110 with stand the .338? They both are Large shank barrells so they should switch out fine.

Thanks,
mike

I believe you can simply replace the bolt head on your Savage with one already made for the lapua mag cartridge. Do a search at Brownells or Midway.

thats a good idea! i didnt think of that.

It's what I plan on doing. unless a 110 drops in my lap at a great price.

Course $1200 for the 110 .338 LM make it awful hard to justify building one. But if a Large shank action comes up for sale for cheap it would be awful hard to refuse.
