Well I need to fund projects and other things so unfortunately up for sale is my Savage .308 win. It originally was a model 11 Trophy Hunter XP Youth, that I purchased for my girlfriend at the time to use. I painted the factory stock, then her and I moved on and I had a rifle with a short stock in a color that I didn't really prefer, so I purchased a standard length of pull stock from Boyd's. I have only used the rifle a couple times in the past 4 or 5 years. I was at one time going to rebarrel it into another .260 AI, but that somewhat faded, and now I'm on to better things.
Factory 20" barrel, action, scope rings and bases. The factory accutrigger shoe has a crack on one side (see photo) that has never caused me any issues, but just an fyi for full disclosure. I bedded the bases with Devcon, though they are just cheap aluminum weaver 2 piece bases. Scope is a Nikon 3-9x40 with their BDC reticle. Rifle can be purchased for around $510-$550 including shipping/FFL transfer or sales tax if purchased at store.
Stock is a Boyd's Prairie Hunter in coyote laminate. I fabricated aluminum pillars and did a bed job, though not the best, it was actually an afterthought when I had leftover Devon from another bed job. I was going to re-bed it if I did anything else with it, but it shoots surprisingly well, I wouldn'tsay it's necessary but I was planning on doing it anyway. Has a couple small dings, see photos. Stock cost was $176 shipped.
All metal bottom metal from savage, including replacement magazine floorplate. This was around $140-$150 shipped.
If you want it I'll also include the factory painted stock with short LOP at no extra charge. It has also been bedded and has factory pillars.
The rifle has somewhere between 100 and 150 rounds through it, I haven't shot it much. It shoots good for a factory rifle though, all I have ever done is just worked up till I saw pressure and loaded some rounds under max, and they have always shot around 5/8"-3/4" or so. The one box of factory ammo I shot was Hornady American hunter 150's I think? They shot about 1" or a little less. The handloads I have tried are 150 Sierra pro hunters, 168 A-Max's, and 215 Bergers I played around with a little. All were loaded with Varget. Rifle weight loaded ready to hunt is 8.9 lbs as configured, and makes a nice little compact package with the 20" barrel. It's not a 1000 yard track driver, but it's a handy brush/truck gun and would do just fine out to longer distances with the right optic and some more thoughtful load workup.
I have around $800 into it, I would like to get $550 shipped to your FFL for it. If your close, I'm in south west Wyoming. I'm on here daily unless I'm up hunting, will be in the high country from the 15th till the 18th so I won't respond then. Thanks for any interest.
