Savage 10b Stealth barrel won't accept muzzle break

Just purchased a VG6 Gamma compensator/break for my new stealth. Both say they have 5/8 x 24 threads. Someone is wrong because I can't get the break to thread on. It acts like it wants to start but then nothing!! The barrel has a muzzle cap that threads on and off so don't think its the barrel but then again nothing looks wrong with the break Confused!!

Do you have some calipers? The od of the muzzle threads should be close to .625 and the id of the muzzle brake should be around .585

Inside break is .582. Threads are measuring .626.

Without a thread gage and a thread mic you're as far as you can go. The o.d. of the thread is technically .001" over max, but that could easily be your calipers.

some savages have 9/16x28 threads maybe somehow it was marked wrong

The company wants me to send their brake back. I a friend tried putting on his supresser this weekend and it threaded onto the gun just mine.
