Sako L61R 3-Lug 7mm Mag Action Builds ?

I picked up a early L61R 3-lug 7mm mag rifle with and aftermarket barrel and custom stock, what calibers of rifles could I build on the 7mm mag action and 3-lug bolt?

Most any long action cartridge. Here is a gunsmith specializing in Sako builds. Some gunsmiths don't want to work on them cause of metric threads.

They are fine actions and any magnum bolt face cartridge will work.

7 STW would be good and any of the RUMs (7mm,300 and 338).

The metric threads are a pain but can be done.

Metric threads are painless, I cut them on a regular basis. I agree, fine actions.

Great info guys...not sure what the plans are for the 7mag yet. I have a 300mag and 375H&H. If I do a custom I may part with one or just resell the 7mag and pick up a smaller caliber to round out my guns..Roy

Metric threads are painless, I cut them on a regular basis. I agree, fine actions.

They are not hard to cut, But on my lathe I have to change the gear set (That's the pain).
