Is it possible to do an oversized cylinder on a 629? I would also like an unfluted cylinder.

I want a cylinder that is 0.050" larger in diameter and maybe a few thousandths longer.

Now, I know anything is possible.

However, would anything else need modified to accommodate the larger cylinder? Such as the cylinder locking cog at the bottom of the opening for example…

Just thinking out loud…

Not sure it would clear the top strap, and the bottom of the frame where the cylinder lock is. The barrel could possibly be removed, and shave the face of the forcing cone then reinstalled to allow for the extra length of the cylinder.

Perhaps , just change revolvers. Like a Ruger Redhawk has what you are asking for. I shoot this "long" 314gr in my Ruger Redhawk 5.5". Fits in the chambers with room to spare.
