I have a custom 28 Nosler that to date I have not been able to find the degree of accuracy I am satisfied with using all the usual powders and multiple bullets. I would like to try RL 26 with the Berger 180 and am looking for some guidelines for starting loads. Using both some interpolation as well as extrapolation I have come up with prob about 80 gr +/- from the Alliant web page. My chambering is such that it will accommodate the 195 gr Berger. Any suggestions, recommendations, guidance or prior experience for this load would be appreciated.

If you can use H1000, you can use RL26 and you'll probably see 50-75 fos more velocity. Your charge will most likely end up a couple grains less with RL26 than with H1000. So, I would start by looking at H1000 starting loads and subtracting 2 grains to start with RL26.

I am using RL-26 For some great loads. 77.0 grs of RL-26 with a 175 ELD-X at 3212 FPS good accuracy. I doubt you will make it to 80 grs. My experience with RL-26 is when you hit pressure you hit it hard so work up slowly.

I use H1000 and my 28N shoots sub 1/2 inch with Barnes 150's and get 3356fps before material pressure issues. I got to 3400ish, but with hot weather its too hot and sticky, . I am having a second 28N built to shoot 175-180 gr bullets. You might check your twist. 28N like 280AI is usually very accurate.

FWIW, I'm using 80.5g RL26 and 160 Accubonds to get 3,350 out of a STW. I quit when I found a node and never pushed harder. I'm guessing 80g would be a stretch.

I hope the figured it out after 5 1/2 years
