Looking at purchasing a BFR rifle caliber pistol and I am leaning towards the 45-70 chambering. I am looking for advice/feedback on choosing a barrel length. The two options are 7.5" or 10.5". Any advice would be appreciated.

Definitely 10.5. You're going to need the weight with 45-70. I have a 14" 7mm08 that is a tack driver... sub moa, but I'm not sure if I would want it in 45-70.

I'd take a look at the S&W XVR .460... better performance than the .45-70 and .500 S&W, and ammo tailored more towards max performance in the pistol-length barrels.

Just a thought.
I'll look at both calibers and compare them. I find the 45-70 appealing because I'm also thinking of buying a CVA single shot rifle in the same caliber.
