A few days ago I was reading about a custom rifle builder that will let you build your rifle in his shop for $1000.00 plus parts but for the life of me I can't remember his name.
Thanks, Frank

It's Robert Gradous. The price to build your own Rifle is $1000 more than it would cost to have him build it. I believe he charges $1250 if you supply the parts.

So are you saying a guy has $2250 in a rifle before he even buys the very first part???? Talk about $$$$$$$....geeze

What do you think a one week long class on rifle building, including a room, is worth if you didn't build yourself a rifle?

Personally I dont care what someone else says .".a one week long class on rifle building, including a room..." is worth...thats THEIR idea and declaration of the value. I look at the finished product..hence why I pay a gunsmith $$ to begin with.

I dont build my own cars either!!

So if you cut your threads too deep or your tooling doesn't stop when you need it to and your FUBAR your project, does he charge you extra?

I would love to learn how to be a machinist but i am afraid it will take longer than a week to take me off the street and teach me to be a custom rifle builder.

:D

It could be that but you aren't limited to that. The thread starter talked about the price plus parts. If he builds it it is $1250 + parts. If you build it it is $1250 + $1000 + parts.

Cost

The gunsmithing class is available for an additional $1,000.00 over the cost of any of the standard rifles I offer on this website. Frankly, this is a fraction of what others might charge for such an opportunity, but I have found that there is no better way to help my customers understand the many aspects that differentiate my rifles from others. These classes have generated many qualified referrals and repeat customers.
I encourage you to read the posts linked below, and contact me by phone if you would like to participate:

this is straight from his page and the cheapest i seen of his standard rifles was $3250.00

That's only part of the story and doesn't change anything I said. If you want to furnish your own parts and have him build the rifle, it will cost you $1250. That $1250 is also the starting price. So it sounds like you could spend more if you wanted something out of the ordinary. If you want to furnish the parts and build it yourself it will cost you an additional $1000.

acording to his site thats not what he does the glass is for his guns not the buy your parts guns
