replacing a savage barrel

i have a 112 savage in 22-250
what would be the process if i bought a replacement barrel in .308? is this possible?
what type of work if any would need to be done to the action? this might be a stupid question but i am knew here and just wondering. i want to be able to shoot farther than the 250 is capable of. the wind is to big a factor with the small bullet. i figured if i can drop a 100 bucks on a new barrel and be able to get an extra 200yds out of it then its worth it.?.?
