Does anyone know a gunsmith that works on these older Remingtons and has spare parts. I need action parts a rear buttstock and the entire gun gone through.

this link will direct you to the service manual for the Remington 742. Parts are hard to com by But still out there. Now since Remington was sold under bankruptcy and split up im sure it will affect things even more in the future.
Parts are available online. Here is an informative video that details a full strip and reassemble of a model 740 which is essentially the same as a model 742.
