Remington 700 Manufacture Date

I have a 700 BDL that I've owned for nearly 30 years. I am trying to figure out the manufacture date and haven't been able to figure it out, short of calling Remington. Which I will do tomorrow if I can't get an answer here.
The serial number begins with: A642xxxx

Does anyone have any insight?

Thank you. The barrel code (on the left side of the barrel, just in front of the receiver) is AO 27. I was just looking at another site and the AO would indicate March of 1977 but I haven't figure out what the 27 indicates. Would anyone have any insight?

The A designates about a 5 year span. According the the Remington 700 book:

Starting in August of 1975 the letter "A" was added preceding the serial numbers and lasted until January of 1980.

You have the final inspector, build date code and assembly number. The others are not there as it was never sent back in for repair.
