What all would it take to convert a remmy 700 with the blind box mag into a detachable mag? Is it just get a bdl stock and detache mag kit? Also do you guys think it is worth the effort, what are the pros and cons and how much should it cost for the mag kit

Just saw this while looking for other info. Surprised no one answered, unless you got PMs.

Look at Stocky's web site: Stocky's New Rifle Stocks - America's Gunstock Specialist!

Yes, you will have to get a different stock. HS Precision and its proprietary magazine system is higher dollar.

B&C stock with a conversion added is a little cheaper, depending on the B&C stock you pick:
Bell Carlson Medalist Carbelite Tactical Sporter 1022 Stocks

and

M4 Flush Mount Detachable Magazine Assembly - Remington 700 BDL Short (223 308), Long (30-06 300 Win) and XL (300 RUM 338 Lapua)

These aftermarket mag systems usually hold 5 in rounds, but stick down below the stock since they are (usually) single stack for reliable feeding.

I prefer the detachable magazines for several reasons, so I'm prejudiced. After you figure cost and realize the ascethics/appearance, only you can decide if it's "worth it." But that's how to do it.

A clarification. You can replace the ADL stock with BDL but what you end up with is a BDL floorplate rifle. The Rem detachable magazine receivers are cut differently to work with a Rem magazine and are not the same as an ADL/BDL receiver.

The BDL stock with the M4 conversion would work (there are different setups avaialable). or you could go with an HS Precision or B&C stock. Higher dollar options are McMillan or Manners stocks with Surgeon or Badger Ordnance magazine systems are also available.
