want another 25-06 as mine was stolen in 89. ive narrowed it to the 700 adl or mossberg 4x4. my wife says 400$ is my budget. ive never minded a blind mag myself. the 700 is 40$ more new. advice?

Thats a no brainer, get the 700, well worth the extra $40.

thanks all ive ever owned is remingtons anyway. my buddy won a tikka t3 lite stainless in 270 in a raffle. still in the box after 3 years but he wouldnt sell it to me for 500.

I would still buy the Remington, don't much care for Tikkas.

ive shot remingtons for 41 yrs think ill stick with them. my wife got me a 770 in 30-06 last year. i know but i havent said a word. it has been a decent shooter though. my 13 year old loves it anyway. his buddies shoot 243s so naturally he wont complain about the recoil.

+1 Remingtons are simply great!

when i was young the saying was if you were poor you got a remington. if you were rich you got a browning. if you were god on earth you got a weatherby. guess im still poor but ive never had an issue with remingtons. never tried a savage. reason i narrowed a 25-06 to the adl and 4x4 was they have 24 inch barrels which i think works best with the 25.

Haha the poor boys rifle out shot everyone else's and guarantee it killed more deer.

I have been blessed enough to buy all of the above...But I am about as far from rich as you can get. Broke would be a more appropriate word for it. LOL

Anyway, I say save up the extra money nd go for the 700 .25-06. I'm hoping my smith will call me saying my .25-06 A.I. will be ready soon. Hunting season is over, he has no excuses, anymore. Hahaha!

id go with the remington too but would save a bit more and get an sps. I just dont care for the blind magazine and plastic molded in trigger guard on the adl.

Actually I got a Remington 700 ADL Varmint at Dick's Sporting Goods for $550 and it had a plastic trigger guard but for $40 I bought a steel one. In the end I had $590 in the rifle and saved $100 by going with the ADL and not the SPS. The fore plate is nice in the SPS, but I mainly shoot my .243 single shot so it doesn't matter to me.

the camo adls i saw at walmart had a plastic trigger guard that was molded right into the stock and not replaceable.
