Anyone use IMR 4955 in their 7 Mag or 300 Mags? If so, what grain bullet are you using and what kind of feet per second are you getting? (Accuracy too😀). I tried it in my 7mag with 168 Berger’s. Too much pressure with not very good FPS. Maybe lighter bullets? IMR 4955 is recommended for 7 mags (at least that’s what is says on the container)

Any input would be appreciated!

I found it to bee too slow as far as velocity, tried it with the 162gr SST and even tried it on the 7mm-08 with 160gr Gamekings and no luck, slow as well. Groups were half MOA but just too slow

I ended up using it on practice rounds.

It's the one Enduron powder that does not make sense to me, supposed to be for larger cartridges but you hit pressure quickly and without an even moderate velocity.

I have some loads to test on my 7mm Rem Mag, 168gr VLDH's with 7977 and 180gr VLD's with 8133, these are supposed to work better for this cartidge so we'll see.

Thanks LV, I was thinking of trying some 140’s with the IMR 4955. It seems the heavier bullets cause the early pressure. I was thinking lighter bullets would be better for faster burning powders.

I shoot 71.0 grains of IMR7977 (~3000 FPS) with 168 VLD’s and shoot consistent sub MOA groups. (You’ll like it)

Az, presently a reloader must cope with availability. Try what you have instead of wishing you had something else. I too have the most accuracy with the 168 VLDH and the 7977 in almost the same as H1000 which I use. Just sold my 7mm so my son gets the Berger 168's.

As @Dosh mentioned we have to due with what we got.

From what I could find you'll provably push the 140gr bullets between 3,050 and 3'100 fps whoch isnt too bad.

Hope you find a good load and stay safe

Just thought I would give an update! I bought some 150 Hornady ELD-X’s for my 7 Mag. IMR4955 starting at 61.0 to 64.0 grains with no pressure signs at 3050FPS. Shot pretty groups at most loads

What brass and barrel length? I tried 61-64gr with the same bullet(Peterson brass) and only pushed about 2950 fps out of a 24" barrel.

The IMR 7977 powder is close to H 1000 powder from what I have read so far. Have used any yet. The IMR 8133 is the slowest of all the Enduron Powders. It being said that the Enduron powder aren't as subject to temperature changes as other IMR powders are from what I have read.
