Reloading Bench Set-Ups

Just a few thoughts after seeing many set ups. Plenty of overhead and under shelf lighting , powder dispenser on a higher shelf , set back out of the way, fire extinguisher , shop vac. Thick ,heavy , bench top mounted to the wall, so there is no movement. Plenty of overhead storage , under bench , locking , metal cabinet for powder storage. Radio or some form of music , don't think a TV is necessary, an unneeded distraction. Multiple drawer cabinet for all the odds and ends hat we have but can never find when needed. If the space is in a basement , a dehumidifier is needed. An added heat source, my basement has in floor radiant heating . Feel free to add your favorites.

I see a lot of others have/use Inline Fabrication Ultramounts. I have ultramounts on all my presses, I love those things!

If this thread has already been done please steer me at it and ignore this. If not the thread on reloading bench tops got me thinking when I saw the pics that there are a lotta neat set-ups out there compared to me. I'm cluttered and tight for space so the new press coming will pretty much run me out of room. In a small room so I guess I'm looking for ideas to increase table top space and still be usable. Well here's what I use...again if this is archived just steer me at the title. Dave

I have 2 benches in an L-shape with a plastic shelving unit between. I built one out of 2x4s and plywood using plans I found on-line, the 2nd I bought from harbor freight. I used T-nuts and a 1/4" thick steel plate so I could quickly bolt down and remove one of two presses...my old rock chucker and a newer Hornady progressive press I use to load all my pistol and 5.56. I keep all my loaded ammo, powder, and brass in a resin 2dr cab (not shown) I got at Lowe's.

@iShoot17 ;
You got any pics of your t-track? I had posted about 6 months ago,looking for something tidy for my new bench (pic inserted). I had this thing built out of solid 6065 Aluminum in square tube and channel. It's big at 6' wide so I have room for some tracks!

@jbur13 - Per your request!

I also added some pictures of something I did to the "wasted space" under the bench. I got tired of having no space for pounder bottles of powder and boom, a simple easy solution! And a picture of my solution for Dillon primer tubes.

I'm working on additional lighting (thus the lamp on the bench currently). I have my ideal bench in mind for our house someday, but with our current space, this will do. I can say - I do imagine my future bench utilizing t-track as well.

I see em'; they're right in front of the clock! I see a cleared-out spot in front, so there must be a seat? Just sayin'...
The three rounds by the clock are a common .30-06 Springfield, a .300 Nevada Desert Magnum and a .358 Sierra Stomper. The latter two are my mildcat designs. All three are dummy rounds-- made-up just for lookin' at 'em. The open area is where my chair usually sets; I moved it to take the picture...

OK observations, 460Magnum, very nice bench and compact set-up, good use of space. iShoot I thought I was looking at another loading press review for a second :) that's quite a set-up you have! If you guys remember in my opening post I'm always looking for neat stuff members come up with, well the powder idea is awesome, I'd like to borrow that idea if you don't mind :) That grabbed my attention right off. Mooseknuckles I really like the set-up and furniture no less, made me miss my lab though, Very nice. Back to observations..a lot of track set-ups for sure, great storage ideas, L-benches are very popular and utilize tight areas really well ( I borrowed that for my set-up and will go down and maybe finish it this morning). A LOT of reloaders have Rockchuckers, and I didn't realize that so many reloaders would share their rooms and ideas. Lighting was another strong theme of course, different kinds but same results a bright area to work in. Whether its a closet- small room - 1/2 room - big room - attic - basement - or 1/2 garage, you can build your own reloading area. Oh and nuschutze, I like wildcats myself, was just kiddin' around with you, all in fun. Hope to see more areas but got to go to work now, L-bench is going up today I hope (will post a pic when I get done to compare with original set up) Dave

Nice layout shinbone, thing my eye first saw is the press I'm trying to patiently wait for to start to ship to suppliers. The forester co ax thread was what convinced me to make a home for one on my bench. Funny been running forester dies for about 15 years but never got the press.

Sorry got off topic, nice roomy layout with shelves galore. Good Loading Dave
