Greeting all,
I am new to this site and was hoping to get some advise/help on finding data sheet for Reloader R-17/R-22 R25 powders?

I have a 300 Wm and a friend told me that he was using R25 with 180 Gr bullets and getting real good results.

I have not been able to find the info on this as I always like to verify a pet load before trying it myself.

All the manuals I have access to will show a minimun load and a max load.
But once again I am looking for something like this for R-25.

Any help appreciated

Thanks,
I saw that. I guess what I am looking for is something like Hodgdons site where different bullets are listed, with min and max loads but apparently it does not exist.

My load was 82 grains of reloader 25. And a federal 215 primer with 180 gr hornady psp. The load was slightly compressed. 3140 fps. Most accurate in a ruger 77 tang safety. It had a real long throat and only liked flat based bullets.. work up from well below as this load comes from the later 1990's... rl 25 may not be as slow as when it first came to the market... I'd start around 75 gr and work up from there... i was limited to oal of 3.340 in that ruger mag

Thanks,
The load in question is 73G of R25 with Older Remington Bronze tips 180gr
Coal of 3.340

Said it shoots real well but according to your "pet" this seems to be on the light side?

Thanks for your input,.

I might also try H1000 with the 180's

Yes 73 gr seems light.. with rl25 i doubt the fps speed is very fast at all... many use 75-76 gr rl22 for a pet load w/180s in 300 win mag..

for a 300 win 75-76 grains is correct for rl22 and a 180, so I'd say you can hit 80 or so of rl25 easily and more with a long throat. I use rl22 with 165 hornady's in my browning at 78 grains with a 215, and it is great with 10 shot moa 100 yard groups as fast as you can aim.
rl25 hasn't changed much since introduction; the same loads with powder with the "new" logo on the powder were still working with my old 7 stw with new powder at the same pressure/vel. this last year before I traded it this spring. Wish I had that pipe back.

Have 2 300 wins using RL-25 with 200gr Sierra GK and MK Both shooting very good groups
with win brass prepped, 215m, Load data on Alliant powders site.

Thanks Guys,

I have both Hogdgons and Sierra manuals but looking for similar data for RL-25

I have used H1000 with 165G interlocks with good sucess

I may try RL-22 or H1000 with the 180's

and I will start well below the max with RL-25 to see what works.

Thanks again,

mrbofus,
I tried RL25 in my .300WinMag with the 190gn SMK's and WLRM back on 02/22/2009. I loaded 75.0 thru 77.5gn in half grain increments, 3-shot groups. The best I got was .510", average of 3021fps. The outside temp was 40*.
Never did find a good load for my .300 with RL25, but used it in my 6.5-284 Norma to shoot some impressive (< 2.0") groups at 500yds, with 120gn Nosler Ballistic TIps.

I tried H1000 in my .300 for the first time in Aug of 2010. I used the 190gn SMK and CCI 250 primers. 79.0 thru 80.5gn (1/2gn inc.). Best accuracy was 79.0gn (.142"), velocity was 3078fps (avg). Just an FYI, 80.5gn shot a .4185" at just over 3200fps. Think chrono was acting up for the latter load. Sun was fading fast. This powder has worked well with the 180gn Ballistic Tip, 180gn MK and 185gn Berger.

I also got good accuracy from 75.5gn of RL22. This proved good with the 180gn MK and BalTip both.

Hope this helps. JohnnyK.
