Rebarrelling Remington 7600 308

Gday,
A mate of mine is selling a remington 7600 police pump. He's selling it for a song because he dropped it and damaged the barrel.
My question is,
Is it easy to re-barrel these rifles? Would be looking to fit a barrel in 338 Federal. slightly heavier than standard and fluted.
Are they a screw in barrel or press fit?
