Rebarreling Semi- Auto's ??

I never hear of anybody rebarreling semi-autos like the Remington 7400.
They do heavy barrels on the AR's.
Is it just a hard job to do, they could be a lot more accurate than the factory barrel.
Just wondering cause I own a 7400 in .308

An FYI,

My 7400 in .30-06 definitely varies by load. Tried some Remington Premier ammo and had a 6 inch plus group. With Federal Fusion and plain old Remington PSP Core-Lokt it's a 1 MOA rifle.

Mic McPherson in his book "Accurizring the Factory Rilfe" has a section on the Remington pump and semi autos. He seemed to have pretty good luck making them shoot better.

I was just about to ask about rebarreling a Browning BAR. I dont intend to hijack, but any info would help me too.
