Real world 6.5cm vs prc

good for nosler! lol My OAL is also over 2.9
but for real reloading data is at best a suggestion, Ive seen reloading data be off 100fps in either direction
2.9 good for you.......a bit more length real world doesn't do anything unless one is honking on it hard.

And yes data can be off 100 one way or another so can lots of powder. I've seen many a person running a load to the max, then go to a new lot of powder and not back off and start again only to be suprised.

My one point to looking at data from a manual is that it's a darn good guide. Toss out the highs, and the lows and one will find a good happy medium of what should be top end.

I like Hodgdon as they pressure test their loads, actually test them and not use some QL crapola....

Find me a load in a manual showing 140's in the 2900 to mid 2950 range...

As well please find me some pressure tested data for R26 in the CM

If your only getting 2700 fps with rl-26 something isn't right. You should be running 2950+ on the top end. 2700 fps isn't even top end for powder like h4350
I could only hit 2800-2830 with 2 Bergara HMR's in 6.5 Creedmoor and RL26 before I was getting ejector swipe. The Creedmoor isn't designed to run the numbers you claim. 2900 in a 22 inch barrel is way over pressure

I'm getting 3450 with the 123 gr hammer absolutes 6.5 prc 26 in proof that's 264 win mag velocities or close too it you won't get close with the creed

I'm not using rl26 and I'm not going 2900-2950 with my 140 elite hunters. Reread our convo

Lots of things come into play with loading. Coal, brass, powder lots, throats, bullets, etc. I wouldn't give load data that i felt was unsafe. Believe me I was suprised to. Theres guys on this forum that have gotten nearly 3050 with 140s from 26in barrels. Did I get it? Nope. I topped out at 3015. Everyone's rifles and reloading practices are different

Don't have a Creed to compare, but for reference I'm getting 2885 from factory PRC Hornady 147 ELD-M through a 22" Proof barreled Savage and that's not even broken in. It's shooting 1/2 MOA or better.

That's pretty good. My 264 runs 140s at 3320fps. I've never tried the hammers.

Yep I hit 3560fps last weekend with my 257 Roberts AI and 100 grain bullets. You wanna know what that had in common with guys claiming 3000fps with 140s and 6.5 Creedmoors? They're way over pressure. 3050fps is 6.5-284 territory. The Creedmoor case isn't some magical case. Dudes that claim that are running well north of 70k in pressure.

~200fps all else equal. That means same barrel length, same bullet, same level of pressure with comparable for round powder. If you are really leaning on it that means RL26 in the CM and VV570 in the PRC. It is easier to seat the CM long as specs start out shorter in relation to a short action. You can go to a mid length or long action and get that with the PRC. If you build to optimize either there will be a ~200fps difference.

If I were doing it, and the action as well as the mag box would accommodate the PRC I would go that route. That said, I have a Kimber 84M in 6.5CM and I wouldn't trade it for the larger action in that rifle. I am just building a 300 PRC for a bigger step up.

Good lookin' rig!
