how long is long enough.I got a krieger now at 25" that's not really performing. Should I leave it at 30 or trim it back. It will be used for banging steal out to a mile

Probably 25'/inch in velocity. If its mostly steel anyway, I would go long. If you go 30" though, I would get a fairly heavy barrel. At least a light Palma....rich

That's what I got coming. I been using rl 26 . 59 gr s is pushing it with the 25". Should I look at a slower powder

Are you shooting 140's? You might try some n570. It will take a case full.
You could open up your chamber with a Sherman reamer and pick up some extra umph too! I could reach 3100 in a 26" barrel with mine. (180 vld)

You Shooting a 6:5 or 280. I can get another 4 or 5 grs. of powder in the case 59.5 of rl 26 loaded into the land was hot almost 3200 FPS and puckered primers. 60 blew out a primer. Retumbo was slower than rl 26 and showed pressure at 59

Oops, I meant 3300'! Retumbo is not as good in the Sherman either.

What's the parent case for the Schoenberg. I am a little deep on the chamber in the 25" barrel.i make a false neck to firform so i pushed it a little

I have already have the 65x280ai reamer. I was going your way but someone told me it would require machineing the bolt face. I should have checked . Your not getting 3200 with a 180.

No I was mixing 6.5 and 280. I do get 3100 with a 180 in the 280 Sherman.
Whoever told you you would have to open the bolt was probably thinking of my short action ss.
