Re-barrel m77 Ruger 270

Looked for info but not finding any help.. I live 4 hours from a gunsmith and I want to get a Prefit to replace my 270 barrel.. I have done several savage with the barrel nut to set headspace, with go-no go gauge and it has worked well for me.. Questions??
Do I need to get a barrel nut for the Ruger if I want to head space this at home. I have a barrel vice and gauges action wrench?? Be kind I'm not trying to put anyone out of work.. It's just not very reasonable to be running 4 hours to change barrel if I can do it myself..

This is a old M 77 with tang safety.. ?? Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.. Any links to videos ??

Just ship it to your or any other gunsmith via USPS. It will return the same way all new and purddy.

That's not much of an answer. The Ruger 77 is at best a hunting rifle. Under hunting circumstances, one in .270 win. should be good for many, many years.
