When I was a kid we called them Spread Nannas don’t ask me why other than they flattened their head when ready too strike haven’t seen one of those in God knows whenThey are intimidating if you have never seen one, we used to have a bunch around this area, I cannot recall the last time I saw one. I would rather see them than a Copperhead or Rattlesnake, if something was going to go extinct, why couldn't it be them two assholes and their stinking cousin the cottonmouth.
Where’s your ranch I was raised on North side of Houston but have a ranch in Ozona in West TexasWe see them quite often out here along with the always unexpected rattlesnake. I think only seen one copperhead since we got ranch back in 1993. We are too dry to have cottonmouth.
Only snakes that don’t crawl away from me is diamondback rattlers copperheads and water moccasins coral snakes may or may not get a pardonGood info, wasn't aware of them being favorite meal for hawks and possums. We allow them to safely good on their way after we get them to put on a show for us.
