I've lived in Colorado Springs for eight years & I had never heard of the Royal Gorge Gun Club. I'm going to have to look into that next week.
I was going to suggest Range #1 at Ft Carson. The ten firing positions/benches are covered and the range is marked out to 300 yards and you can shoot out to about 450. The only caveat is you have to be a DoD ID card holder (active duty, Guard/Reserve, retired or dependent) to use the range. The nice thing is it's open year-round and it's free.
