It's time to replace my Leupold RX-II rangefinder. It still works and have no issues with it. I just need (or should I say want) to upgrade them as I will be using them for an elk hunt this year and want something that ranges further than these do. I don't want to spend $1200 but probably willing to go maybe $5-700 for a new one. Please give me your preferences based on experiences you have had with yours and tell me what makes them better than any other brand out there.

I have not looked at the Leica's. I really haven't looked seriously at any of them yet

I'd save up and get a the new Sig Kilo 5K or my personal favorite the 8K.

I've had the Sig 2000 and 2400ABS. Both quit ranging at some time and had to go back to Sig who did replace them free I might add. Neither would work in extremely cold weather. I ended up with a ranging binocular w/ ballistics to hunt with but still wanted a basic range finder for knocking around in the shooting bag. I went with a Vortex HD 4000 mostly for the lifetime warranty and under $500. It hasn't missed a beat and ranges everything I've pointed it at. But, for the glass and IF they had a better warranty, I might would have chosen the Leica. All their range finders get great reviews.
