Well got out today for the first time with the new to me Rem 700 ultra. I just had a new stock put on it after I bought it used and today it worked great. I also put a new scope on it and I went with the VX-5 HD 3-15x44 wind duplex reticle.
This rifles is factory barrel with the action trued and a trigger tech trigger and I had a brake installed. Total package 9.4 lbs
The load I had best group of the day which was
99 gr of retumbo , 215M , ADG brass , 168 ttsx seated 0.114 off and getting 3478fps Group was shot at 200 yards.
I ran it up to 3600 fps with 102 gr but after 99 gr groups opened up.
I guess I will see if load repeats it self which I'm sure it will.

Nice! Looks sweet. Gotta love the RUM. Is that stock the Game Warden or Scout. I love the Game Wardens.

You may get better velocity with a faster powder, if you have it. Save your Retumbo for the heavies. I tried shooting lightweights in my RUM, but always seem to move back to the heavier pills. It really likes the 245 Berger.
Curious how those Talley's will hold up to recoil Keep us posted.

Nice group for 200yds!

Love mine. My best load in 165 is 3600 and 180 at 3400. I love it killed a lot of Bulls and bucks with it. Last year was it. This year it will be a safe queen until I kill a few animals with two virgins loudly calling from the back room.

I have RL 23 and 26 I was thinking about trying with the 168 ttsx.

The stock looks and feels like a McMillan but is actually a small out fit up here in Canada called Custom Carbon Stocks.
I can't tell the difference between the two.

RL26 has been very good for me with lighter bullets but I use a lot more RL33 with the Rum. The sweet spot in all three of my Rum's seems to be the 180-210gr pills.

I might have to give RL 26 a go. Where do you reckon a guy starts with it and 168 ttsx ?
I was thinking around 90 gr ?
I used it in my last 300 ultra with 150 ttsx and I think I was 96 gr with those.

I bet you can find data on either Barnes' site or the Alliant site.

I haven't shot anything that light except in Mono's and that's been a while. Offhand though I'd say if you backed off 3gr or so from that load you'd probably be in the ballpark, might want to go down 5gr and then work up.

I used H1000 with a 152 gr mono and it did pretty good. Rl23 may be able to get same velocity with a few grains less. Either way, should be smokin fast...

Interesting load. I load basically the same, except for i'm using Barnes brass. I'm getting almost identical velocity with 96.5 of Retumbo. Any more, and I'd have very heavy bolt lift.

That is fantastic!! I am so surprised that alot more people aren't on the 300 Rum train...Have a custom Rem thumb hole with Krieger bbl (hvy) Jewell trigger trued action, that actually makes it appear that I can shoot...91.0 Retumbo. 210 yr Berger VLD20210811_093025-1.jpgIMG_20191113_1355530_rewind.jpgIMG_20191113_1037183_rewind.jpg hunting bullet, Fed GM210.
