RAMSHOT LRT POWDER

I've got some ladder rounds loaded up for my 338 Rogue that I'm hoping to shoot this week. I'm hoping it works well as it has been easy to find in stock compared to the other popular magnum powders.

6mm 280ai sounds like a beast. I like it! I'm working with a 6mm PRC but haven't had the time to work with it much. The LRT should work out well for you. From what I've heard, LRT is not wildly temp sensitive but may not be as insensitive as some of the H series.
 
My normal is the H powders. I not had use the H1000, and don't have any yet either. With a longer barrel in the 6mm/280AI I think it going to a be different story. The IMR powders a great many years ago I ran into Temp problems and never used it again. Thanks and I will keep it in mind.
 
I'm gonna tag in on this thread. I have a couple jugs of LRT and I haven't tried it yet but I plan to I'll be using it in a regular 338, a 338 improved and a 300 Norma possibly. My 338 is a short barrel and I'm curious to see what I get out if it with that powder. Right now the RL33 is running good in my improved but I have this stuff as a back up.
 
Heading out this morning to test the 338 Rogue with LRT. Loaded light to heavy looking for pressure this session. Extremely pleased as this rifle has been well under MOA up to this point fire forming brass. Fingers crossed for 3000 fps with 300gr bullets.

backyardsniper do you only run 385's or have you played with the 300's as well?
 
The guy that had it before me ran the berger 300's and he said he was getting 3000fps with those as well. I ran mine by the Labradar yesterday and it was getting and average of something like 3003fps with an SD of 9. I shoot a lot of nosler 300gr custom competitions. I plan to test them in it after this elk hunt. I have a 21" regular 338 lapua barrel for this rifle too. I want to try the LRT in it. I'm getting 2635fps with H1000 and the 300gr8 bullets but I think I can do the same with less pressure with the LRT. I Amy also try the 250gr bullets in that 21" I think it will be an excellent handy hunting rifle.
 
just keep aware of the temps as I dont believe LRT makes any claims in that regard....should be fine otherwise.

Yeah, I had a typo in there, 285 not 385 obviously. I have yet to run the LRT. When my Norma gets back I'll get some data on it and hope for the best. I have a friend still back in AK who can run it in his and we'll compare data and see what how pressure looks. We've run a lot of 285's in the past but we both have a thing for the 300's.
 
Back from the range. Now the work begins. My specs are as follows. H-S Precision Pro-Series 2000 HTR rifle. 28" 1/9.3" twist barrel chambered with a PTG 338 Rogue reamer. APA FB3 brake makes it very pleasant to shoot. With an all up weight of 16#11oz, it's definitely not a hunting rig.

Some OALs touching lands with common bullets.
250gr SMK 3.772" OAL
285gr ELD-M 3.805" OAL
300gr NCC 3.750" OAL
300gr SMK 3.763" OAL
300gr OTM 3.890" OAL

Today's testing was done with LRT and 300gr Nosler Custom Comps at 3.730" over LabRadar.

105gr 2859fps
106gr 2874fps
107gr error
108gr 2924fps
109gr 2939fps
110gr 2959fps
111gr 2986fps
112gr 2982fps
113gr 2993fps
No heavy bolt lift and primers look great at max with no cratering. 113gr shows faint ejector marks on the Hornady brass. This was 10 single shots. I'll load some 3 or 5 round sets starting at 110gr and see what it does for consistency. This rifle is promising to be a beast.
