RAMSHOT LRT POWDER

Quick Load shows Accurate LRT (as opposed to now under Ramshot LRT) to have a burn rate of around .28.

It seems to be slower than N570, which in my last batches has a back calculated burn rate actual of about .31 though quick load says it can be as low as .277.

Retumbo is about .337

Ramshot Magnum .345

Reloader 26 .3397

Reloader 33 .2670

So, on a relative basis, according to quickload its sort of close to bothe Reloader 33 and N570, but any 1 batch or lot of powder can vary 5-10% on burn rate from what they publish...... But its in this neighborhood. Its definitely slower than Retumbo and Magnum
and RL-26... I heard one fellow say in another forum he thought it acted like black tar on the order of US869.:)

Here's another data point"

338 RUM
R-P brass
CCI 250 primer
100.0 grains LRT
285 ELDM
2776 fps with a 26" barrel + suppressor
0.8 MOA @ 100 with 3 shots

Wasn't blown away with 3 shot 0.8 moa out of a custom rifle so I have some 300 Berger EH's on order to play with. Will report back.

Did a work up on a 28 Nosler. Testing done at 78°-85°. This was a factory, brand new unfired 26" browning hells canyon long range, Virgin Peterson brass, 175 ABLR seated .065" off, 3.515" OAL, and GM215M primers. Velocities obtained from lab radar -

87 - 3039
88 - 3126
89 - 3165
90 - 3205
91 - 3262 and slight bolt lift, no ejector mark

Then I did a ladder test, and came up with this -

87.7 - 3073
88.0 - 3146
88.3 - 3148
88.6 - 3175
88.9 - 3194
89.2 - 3195
89.5 - 3235
89.8 - 3186

It appeared to speed up just a little from the virgin barrel. Load I settled on after the ladder groups was 89.0 grains. Here is a group at 903 yards -

Average over 17 shots zeroing and trajectory validation was 3194 with 17 fps E.S., Pretty satisfied with this load, think it should do!!

156 eol with 83.8 Lrt 3218fps 20es
60 shots down the tube most shots touch. Been shooting between 80 an 90 degrees. Im ready to go long but half the state of Idaho is on fire. I don't wanna start more fires and can't see through smoke anyway. Can't wait only 16moa to hit my 900 yard plate.

@codyadams have you tested temp stability in this LOAD? I'd freeze some overnight in a hydro flask and take to range first thing in the AM. I tested it in my 6.5 Sherman max and got similar velocity as N570. Rl33 has been the top performer for velocity in this rifle, but it's dirty and temp sensitive as well.

Very nice! What cartridge are you pushing that 156 with?

Looks like 1/2 minute of elk. Time to fire up the Barbecue

I bought 4 pounds of LRT for the heck of it a while back. Traded two pounds of it for 4831SC with one of the guys here on the site.

I'd like to work up LRT for my 257 Wby but I'm getting to be a fair weather range guy. Houston Texas gun ranges in August tend to be on the hot side.
You might be very Pleased with the Performance in the 257 Bee
