Hi all, I'm in the process of putting together a 6.5-284 on a tikka action. I have everything ordered except the action, including dies and brass in hand.
Barrel is 1-7 carbon6 at 23"

I haven't ordered bullets yet but I'm looking at

131 hammer hunter
153 hornady A tip
135 super bulldozer 2

The powders I have on hand are shooters world "LONG RIFLE" and H4831SSC. I'm not so concerned about the 4831, it's the shooters world powder I'd like to figure out, it seems like it should be right in the correct burn rate but I cannot find any data on it for 6.5-284. I've emailed them (lovex,SW) and given them all the same information and even put out a couple more common bullets for them such as the eld M/X but haven't had a response in a few weeks.
So if anyone has or would be willing just to throw some numbers into quickload to see if these are even a safe option and where to start. It'd be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Travis

Standard caveats: start low work up etc etc but here's a couple with the 130 TSX and the 133 Cutting Edge for the SW powder:

Code:
Cartridge : 6.5-284 Norma
Bullet : .264, 130, Barnes 'TSX' S 30246
Useable Case Capaci: 62.295 grain H2O = 4.045 cm³
Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 3.228 inch = 81.99 mm
Barrel Length : 23.0 inch = 584.2 mm
Powder : Shooters World Long Rifle

Predicted data by increasing and decreasing the given charge,
incremented in steps of 0.6% of nominal charge.

again I will say stop posting half baked garbage quickload predictions. quickload needs to be calibrated it aint a loading manual.
if you want it buy it and learn how to calibrate to your situation

Thanks for the help, I don't even own a computer so quickload would be useless. I didn't ask for "load data" just if the powder would be suitable or safe. I've tried contacting the manufacturer of the powder to no avail. I can't justify spending money on a computer, and quickload, for the one time I've had a question about compatibility.

what starting point? those are not even the bullets he asked about and that is how people get in trouble

Travis,

If @helsyeah is willing and able to work with you, you might want to PM him instead so he can help you tailor to your specific load/goal.

Good luck and happy safe reading.
