Ok..I got this savage mod 10 varminter in 22 250 it has
a 1 in 9 twist...I have been told I can use almost any
bullet above 50 grain with good accuracy..But that maybe
a 60 or higher will be better.
Any advice on this? My plan is for crow sniping out to maybe
500 yards or better with any luck..
Thank you for any thing you may have to offer....Johnlightbulb

I used to have a Savage LRPV in 22-250 with a 1:9 twist barrel. The bullet that worked the best for me was Hornady's 75gr AMAX. Several times with three different shooters in was able to keep three shots inside 1" @ 400 yards. I did have a problem with both vertical & horizontal with the same load. My rifle was picky about how far the bullet was off the lands.

I can't remember whether they were 52 or 53 gr. Sierra's but they worked well. Also Sierra's 55gr worked very well.

I have tried... a few from my LRPV, 9 twist.

Factory loads:
Hornady 40gr nos BT, 55gr Vmax

Handloads:
Barnes - 36gr VG, 40gr varminator, 50gr VG, 53gr TSX
Hornady - 52gr HPBT, 55gr Vmax
Berger 75gr vld
Nosler 40gr BT, 60 PT, 50gr BT, 60gr BT

Almost every bullet stayed under 1moa with 10 shot groups, the factory 40gr loads shot little bug hole groups for me. I never did find a good load for the 36gr VG. I stocked up on the 75gr VLD, they shoot well for me, buck the wind very well and still make a mess of a gopher.

sounds good..I appreciate your reply's..As soon as the
weather gets a bit warmer I will give them a try..I have
several of the Hornady v max I will also try..John
