Hello,

I am purchasing a Bergara 6.5prc. I am looking into some scopes to put on it and seem to find mixed reviews and opinions and thought some insight from here would be helpful. I went with a shelf rifle to save the costs compared to custom so I can spend the money towards better glass. It will be used for deer and elk. I am looking for the following critirias.

-Low light quality
-Clarity
- 30x magnification if possible
- Under $2750 if possible
- MOA

Any recommendations or insight.

And of course you could look at Swarovski tangent theta March or ZCO as well

There's a guy on 24hourcampfire.com with a Bushnell 6500 elite 4 1/2-30X50 for $900. I have three. If I had the money I would buy it. It is in the optics sub-forum.

The glass is as good as my Leopold VX6 and Swarovski. All three are the same in low light performance.

find a PMII, very good in low light, nice turrets, good mag range, swaro are also very good, turrets not so much. steer clear of nightforce for low light. have had multiple of both. i still have my schmidts.. zeiss also very good for low light. we shoot until dark dark here so you quickly see the good and bad scopes when the witching hour comes. the the pvs comes on...

Is weight a concern? Athlon Ares ETR 4.5-30x56. weights about 34 ounces, but has good glass and can be had for about $1,100
Not a huge concern. Being 24 and working as firefighter i’m in good health. So if weight became a concern I could drop weight somewhere else if it meant have better optics.

Not sure what a PMII is? Could you elaborate?

And so your saying night force is not your first pick for low light? Your recommending Zeiss?
