Protecting rifle muzzle from weather on elk hunt

I use either the stock Leupold or Butler Creek bikini scope covers but another that uses nothing on the muzzle. It's never been an issue but I keep a critical eye on where it's at, at all times.

I'm glad you found it and corrected it, however a plugged muzzle only has to happen once. Tape is a cheap, easy, very effective preventative measure. The "long skinny twig" mentioned in a previous post, is much like performing first aid on a hand injury.....that wearing gloves would have prevented! memtb
