Looking to start reloading for my Rem 700 - 300win mag. It seems like Federal 215M primers are the way to go but are almost impossible to find. Are there any suitable replacement primers anyone would recommend?

I use WLRM primers in my 300wm. I have had good luck with these primers.I have been looking for the Federal 215M primers and also have had no luck in finding them.

Fed 251/ 215m primers are rare as all get-out sometimes. I use them exclusively in many cartridges, including my 300win. I am not naïve though and have 4 or 5 bricks of wlrm primers running around in my reloading stuff. I buy 215's when I can, but I will use wlrm when I need to.
I do have a few loads in a couple of cartridges that I only use wlrm for and those are fine. I just do not feel like tweaking a load for a different primer if I don't have to.

Don't be afraid of CCI250. A lot of my magnum rifles use em.

I do have a couple of loads with 215m, but if I didn't have them I'm sure that I could find a good load with 250s.

Switching to different primers is the last thing I do to try for maximum accuracy. I always start with Federal 215. I don't change anything except the primer. Occasionally the rifle prefers a different brand.

he's d.o.a. on the 215 though as he can not find any. Use the wlrm or rem mag primer and don't look back. I don't like the cci250 as it is rather sooty, but I do use it in a couple of loads...

I use Remington 7 1/2 Magnums in my Remington 700 Long Range .300WM and they are extremely accurate and consistent. They are easy to find and affordable. Best group to date using them is 0.173 out of my .300 WIN lighting 74gr of 7828ssc with a 208gr A-MAX stuffed in the top!

I will try WLRM next as I hear great things about them and Winchester standard large rifle primers are all I shoot in my standard rifle cartridges.
