How about (Western Powder's) RamShot's Magnum powder for ELR (>1200 yrds) use with the .30-378 Wby? I've seen Hodgdon's H1000 recommended and Magnum is one of the few pwders that I know of that can compete with H1000.

It's recommended for the "7mm Rem Mag and 300 Win Mag through the Remington Ultra Mags and 338 Lapua"

I used a lot of H1000, and Retumbo. A a bit of US 869...I shot a 30-378 for about 5 years straight...used little else. it is big and effective with 210s and the heavier bullets. My load with a 180 accubond was the most accurate though. My longest kill is with a 30-378...I still have one--but seem to enjoy lesser calibers now

IMR has a new powder out: IMR Enduron 8133

Near RL-33 in burn rate. Not temp sensitive. Cheaper than Rl-33. I'd look into it. Sounds promising for the big guns that need a slower burning powder.

I've found little differences between H1000 and Retumbo in my 30/378 when loading the 215 Berger Hybrid. Best bullet I've found for the 30/378.

I currently use H1000 in mine and about 5 others that I have fooled with...But have used Retumbo and 50bmg before...If spring ever gets here I am going to try Reloader 33 and see what I can get out of the 215 bergers...

H1000 works great in the 30-378, might not be the ideal burn rate but then I dont know if there is an ideal burn rate for this round. RL25 and VVN170 would be a second choice to try.
A friend of mine swears by VVN24N41 but he shoots 210gr VLD's

btw Never found Retumbo to be my favorite powder in anything I tried it in

Any used the H870 ?
2 of best powders i've used in my 30/378 are H-870 and H-5010. Great powders with the 200 gr bullets. The down side is that they are no longer avavible. I have also used RL-33 and gotten good vel and accuracy with 200+ gr bullets. I've also used Norma 217 with the 210 Berger with good accuracy.

Have any of you gotten over 3100fps with the 215 bergers with any of the powders you have used ?????
