Powder Valley Weirdness

I just thought I'd post my recent interaction with Powder Valley. On November 11th I ordered an 8lb container of H1000 and a 1lb container of H4831SC. Today my package arrived but had two 8lb containers in it. They accidently sent me an 8lb H4831SC. So I called Powder Valley to let them know what happened and they apologized and told me they'd send out the 1lb with a return shipping label and instruction for the 8lb. (Which would be $40 shipping both ways = $80 shipping for them). So I offered to pay the difference for the 8lb less $40 shipping costs or anything else they may be able to work out for me so we didn't have to go through this. (of course I'd have to pay tax on the 8lber too)

They rejected my offer and are now sending me the $45 1lb container (which will "cost" them $40 to ship) with a return label for the 8lb with a return label (which will cost them another $40 to ship back). So they're losing at least $80 on this transaction instead of just letting me pay them the difference. What the heck? I'm befuddled and now I have to wait another week or so before being able to use my H4831SC.

Rant over. I'm confused what happened here but this is a tid bit of information for any of y'all out there. If they ever send you $300 worth of powder you didn't purchase and you call them to notify them of the error, this is what will happen.

I applaud your honesty. The only thing that makes sense is paying for the difference between the 1 pounder and the 8 pounder. I would call them back and tell them that is what is going to happen. Their mistake and you are being more than fair.

I agree... I called them back after reading your comment and told them I'd pay the full difference but again I was rejected. The woman I spoke with told me the owner wants the 8lb container back and stone walled me when I asked to speak with him. She said it may get complicated with the tax and I told her I'd pay the $18.97 difference in tax as well but I was again stone wall hard stopped on it. Before getting off the phone I told her to let the owner know I called and if he wanted to give me a call to work something out to do so.

I don't feel it's right to open the container and force their hand, (although the temptation was there) but I also don't feel it's right for them to act this way with me when I very well could have just carried on my day and been happy for the 8lb jug.

They have 8lb jugs in stock so no shortage on their part.

Stupidity in America abounds. Shipping and cust service probably run by some ******* millennial. Almost doesn't seem to pay to be honest anymore. I too, applaud your being honest and love the recommendations you have already gotten including the already opened and that you don't have license for shipping HAZMATs. God Bless you!

Maybe you bought there last 8 lb. in that type, they had it sold and need it back? For them it sounds pound and $$'s foolish otherwise.
Climb the customer relation's supervisor chain. Send them a contact us email, be a totally different department, explain the details.

It's probably the strangest interaction I've had with customer service in the past couple years at least. Absolutely confuses me. They will lose money on this, and have at best a confused customer on their hands willing to communicate his experience with others. I sent a contact us email via their website like you suggested. We'll see what happens? If nothing else I'll eventually get my 1lb and I'll send this other one back.

As much as I'd love to, I won't crack open the 8lb jug. 🤣

I would bet this is the case. They sold the 8lb to someone else and can't find the stock they promised. $80 is cheap to keep their reputation to the other party, and the badmouthing that would ensue from happening.
