My Fierce Fury just arrived and I am itching to start working up some loads. I plan to start with a 162gr ELD-X. There are 5 powders that can reach 2900-3000 fps via Hornady's reloading manual. I currently have IMR-4831 and RL-22. The other three powders are Magpro, H1000, and RL-25. Are there any advantages to the H1000 versus RL-22 / IMR 4831 for example?

TIA

I'm not a fan of the old 25 and 22 because of whats stated above.
Now the new RL23 is stable and produced better velocity than 22 that I tested.
I've not tested 26 the stability on it some claim over 80 deg it gets unstable.
I've had good luck with both H1000 and RL26 in the 7 mag but all with 180 Bergers

I've found that Reloder 23 and 26 run close to Reloder 22 and 25 respectively and are more temp stable. I've run a lot of ladder/speed tests against H4831SC, Imr7828sc, Retumbo. Reloder will always outrun these powders in my 7RM.
Since I have used Nosler brass, I cannot push these loads to find and use max pressure as it opens primer pockets in just a few reloads. Therefore, some results other guys have may be different.
So basically I am not scalding hot on my reloads, but just staying a few percent less powder than most do. I settle for hunting accuracy rather than that last node I know I'm leaving on the table. Reloder gives me more speed without having to go over the max data of the other brands.

Get you some 7 mag ADG brass I just finished a 7 mag load development with there brass and it was excellent as good as any Lapua ive been around.

I run retumbo in my brother's under the 162amax at 3030fps It can go a bit quicker but it shoots so good under 1/2moa as far as you shoot it. I run Rl26 in mine under the 168 berger with less pressure and a bit more speed. This is a 700P and shoots very good with this combo. Start at 69 and work up in Retumbo 162

RL22 is very temp sensitive and H1000 is not. Another very good powder similar to H1000 is IMR7977.
