G'day all,
Would like a recommendation on powder for my new RUM.
I have Retumbo, H1000 and RE25 in the appropriate burn rate. Also have H50BMG but little data out there.
I'm going to run 200g Accubonds for starters, seeing as though I have several hundred and I know they work well in cases like the Weatherby.
I'm thinking RE25 will probably be up there for accuracy. As it always seems to be in all my other rounds I use it in, but between H1000 and Retumbo, what do you all think will work best?

Cheers.

Of what you have, I would start with H1000 - I've used it before and it's easy to use. If you can find some when put behind 210 ABLRs I had good success with 7828 SSC

Running H1000 with the 210 Berger VLDH In the 300RUM. Retumbo wasn't as accurate which worked out well since the Retumbo is what my 30/378 shoots quite accurately.

I run H1000 w. 210s and 215s in my .300RUM @ 3100.

Retumbo for the 230s.

RL25 is too temp sensitive for me. Something like 2fps per 1° of temp swing. No thanks.

When I shot 200 accubonds out of mine I played with all three of the powders you mentioned. As Lance stated RL-25 varied with temp a lot more than H-1000 or Retumbo. They all shot good out of it though. In mine, H-1000 pressured out around 100 fps slower than the other two but grouped the best.

Hmmmm, it has not gone the way I anticipated. I was sure most would back Retumbo with 200g pills.
Luckily, I have plenty of both, so when I get dies and brass, I will test all 3.
I have never found RE25 to be temp sensitive at the temps I shoot in, so it has never been a consideration to not use it.

Cheers.

I get over 3,000 fps with a Berger VLD H 210 grain using Reloder 33 in my 300 RUM (26" barrel). I used to use Reloder 25 and 26, with a little less velocity.

My nephew has a 300 RUM & he ended up using H1000 but he didn't have the other Hodgdon powders you mentioned. I have a 30-378 Wby Mag & I have both Retumbo & H50BMG. The H50 worked better for me. We did shoot different bullets than you're asking about tho, he shot Berger 230's & I shot Berger 210's. I also agree with the other comments about the RE25 temp sensitivity.
