My friend purchased a savage axis and we're going to work on a load for it. He's ordered 98 grain shock hammer bullets. I have a fair selection of powder available but would like to narrow it down to two if possible. IMR 4350,IMR 4831,W760,IMR 7828. Any insights are greatly appreciated, thanks

Looking at Nosler load data for 100gr bullets, looks like IMR 4350 followed by IMR 4831 will give you the best velocities out of what you have listed. W760 wasn't listed. Top powder for velocity was RL19.

I know you didn't mention it but if you can get some H4831SC or regular H4831 try it too. It works very good in my 25/06 from 75gr to 115 gr bullets. Not shooting Hammer bullets but Nosler, Sierra, and Hornady .
I'll keep a eye out at the LGS but it's tough even finding bullets. I recommended he shoot nosler accubond or BT but he couldn't find em so we're trying hammer's. Thanks

I have liked Imr 4350 in mine.

IMR or H4350 has been my got to and I've tried just about everything. H4831 seemed to work well also with 100gr plus. Many people have had good luck with RL25 & retumbo but I must be doing something wrong because I couldn't get it to work for me.
