I am sure this is a stupid questions...I know no stupid questions, just stupid people that ask questions!

I am looking at Pillar Bedding a Howa Varmiter just for practice. My question is on pillar lengths. Do I leave a little bit long so the trigger guard and floor plate will be in contact as well? Or do I make it flush with the stock and only have some sticking up for the action to sit on?

How much should it stick up through the stock to make contact with the Action?

It will be full glass bedded as well.

What I was thinking was having the pillars sandwiched between the floor plate and action to make a consistent mount.

Thanks for the help.

Pillar bedding

Never a dumb question.

I've written some long winded posts regarding this very subject.

Pillars are intended to provide a tension free environment for the receiver. If you are compressing stock material, there is tension somewhere.

Make your pillars so they contact the action and the floor metal if at all possible.

Good luck.
