I made a new stock for my Savage rifle, some may have seen the post here on another forum. Well I want to pillar bed it, is there a special set of pillars for the Savage or are you guys modifying regular pillars or making your own out of stock material? Thanks.

I have some 1/2" diameter aluminum rod I drill for 1/4" bolts, or,

Lamp rod from Home Depot, or,

Ebay pillars from Bedheads.

I use devcon for mounting, trim after set, and countersink them for socket head bolts.

Follow tutorial to the letter.

The Savage can get extremely thin in some areas around the pillars, I use an aluminium arrow cut to size so I have very minimal wood removal. I bed them without the trigger then cut the rear pillar for clearance for the trigger components.

Somebody has been drinking Dick Davis's Koolaid. 1/2" contoured pillars glued in and machining the top half of the pillar in front of the sear for clearance.
